Among the distinguished awardees were Jabria Lindsey from Central High School and Elizabeth Cowley from Brookstone High School, who received the prestigious Kenya “Sue” Walton Most Valuable Athlete award. Furthermore, the Morehouse School of Medicine Coaches of the Year accolade went to Bryant Thomas from St. Anne-Pacelli and Dusty Perdue from Glenwood.

The Coach O Invitational, presented by the West Georgia Jet at Kinnett Stadium, showcased the talents of future track stars from Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. Local athlete Mason “The TrackBeast” Dozier of the West Georgia Jets stood out with an impressive performance, securing three gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 400m events. Moreover, the Brookstone Cougars Boys and Girls Track teams clinched back-to-back Region Championships, highlighting their dedication and hard work.

This week’s spotlight shines on Columbus High School’s Brooks Urquhart, who emerged victorious at the Larry Gaither Invitational, a prestigious high school golf tournament hosted by the Georgia PGA chapter at Bull Creek. At just 15 years old, Brooks showcased exceptional skill and determination, securing the individual medalist title with rounds of 69-72 (-3). His remarkable achievement makes him the second youngest champion in the tournament’s 48-year history.
