Somebody Has To Say It; So, It Might As Well Be Me!
Recently while visiting the mall, I saw some of everything shower caps, hair rollers, pajamas, sagging pants, leggings that show
Why haven’t we heard a mumbling word from Council members since Saturday’s shooting at Rigdon Park? The victim was allegedly shot twice in the stomach, but as of this writing the victim’s condition is unknown.
It’s not unusual for one person to be able to do to another person what he or she can’t do to a dog.
In July two employees of the Columbus Animal Care & Control facility were caught on tape discussing the fact that they could go home faster if the euthanasians went faster. In the background employees can be seen loading several carcasses of euthanized dogs in a rolling cart.
Then came Chai’s turn. She was taken from her kennel, placed on the cement floor beside the kennels, and her tortuous death began. Several staffers injected the poor animal time and again.
After more than 30 minutes and one failed heart injection, poor Chai, who had been left alone in full view of the facility’s camera, was loaded in the cart that contained the bodies of numerous other dead dogs.
There was a booming outcry from animal loving concerned citizens throughout the Valley, including members of the Council. Charmaine Crabb and Judy Thomas were all but nitpicking in their expressed concerns about the goings on at the facility, and the treatment of the animals.
My issue is not with their expressions over Chai’s treatment. My issue is their lack of attention to the Rigdon Park incident thus far. Chai’s mistreatment was on social media and YouTube, but scores of children witnessed in person the Rigdon Park shooting.
It’s frightening enough when shooters go into schools or wait for their targets to get off the school bus, but Saturday we had a woman shooting with children present.
Some Little League games need to be monitored just on general principle. There’s often enough profanity in the air to make a longshoreman blush. Plus, some of the foulest words come from the mouths of women.
Perhaps children’s sporting events should have security checkpoints. Security officials would be looking for guns and knives.
Whatever the root of Saturday’s shooting was, Sheriff Greg Countryman said it started elsewhere. Yet, the shooting set a bad example for the children who witnessed it.
