Teen Killed in Columbus Shooting, Police Investigating

A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot during the morning of Dec. 18 in Columbus, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting around 8:20 a.m. in the 1100 block of Celia Drive, where they found the victim, later identified as Elijah Hatcher, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Columbus police.

Hatcher was transported by EMS to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by an emergency room doctor at 9:15 a.m.

The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation.
