A suspect in a 2023 deadly shooting has been extradited to Muscogee County to face multiple charges, including murder.
Columbus Police responded to a shooting on Nov. 8, 2023, in the 1500 block of Harvey Avenue. Officers followed a trail of blood that led them to 1000 Linwood Boulevard, the location of 1st Class Tinting and Detailing, where they discovered the crime scene.
Following an investigation, authorities issued a murder warrant for Gerald Simpson, 30, on Dec. 1, 2023. Simpson was charged with murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
He subsequently was arrested on Jan. 3, 2024, in Phenix City, Ala., on separate charges.
On Feb. 19, 2025, Simpson was extradited to the Muscogee County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
Authorities continue to investigate the case.
