A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Thursday, Apr. 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. to mark the grand opening of the Calvin Smyre Educational Conference Center at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM). The state-of-the-art facility honors the legacy of Calvin Smyre, a visionary leader and advocate for education and healthcare.
The center will serve as a hub for learning, collaboration, and innovation, providing resources to train and inspire the next generation of healthcare leaders. Located at 720 Westview Dr., SW, Atlanta, GA 30310, the facility is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing research, fostering partnerships, and shaping the future of medicine and public health.
"Calvin Smyre has made extraordinary contributions to both education and healthcare in Georgia and beyond," Morehouse School of Medicine President and CEO Valerie Rice said. "This new center is a testament to his dedication to equity, innovation, and community empowerment. His influence has had a lasting impact on Morehouse School of Medicine, and this center will continue to inspire future generations."
Smyre, a distinguished public servant and steadfast supporter of MSM, is recognized for his commitment to expanding educational and healthcare opportunities throughout the state. The center will be a lasting part of his legacy, serving as a space for critical conversations and groundbreaking initiatives.
