Girls Inc. of Columbus and Phenix-Russell, a leader in empowering young girls to be strong, smart and bold, announced Dr. Gail Burgos, the organization's CEO, will transition to new opportunities effective Feb. 28, 2025.

Under Burgos’ visionary leadership, the organization experienced significant growth, expanding its reach and impact on girls across Muscogee and Russell counties.

COO Danita Gibson Lloyd will step in as interim CEO, bringing her exceptional leadership and dedication to ensuring the continued success of the organization’s mission. Lloyd has an extensive background in leadership and is committed to supporting the organization’s values and working to empower all girls to be strong, smart and bold.

"Dr. Burgos’ leadership has been instrumental in advancing our mission to inspire all girls to realize their full potential," said Carmen Buckner, Board Chair of Girls Inc. of Columbus and Phenix-Russell. "We are deeply grateful for Dr. Burgos' contributions and are excited for the bright future ahead under the interim leadership of Mrs. Danita Gibson Lloyd."
