Former Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson is set to hold a press conference Friday to address newly appointed City Councilor John Anker’s call for the removal of City Manager Isaiah Hugley.
The press conference will take place on Friday, Mar. 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Columbus Georgia Convention & Trade Center, located at 801 Front Avenue. Tomlinson is expected to deliver a brief statement and take questions from the media.
Tomlinson, who served two terms as mayor from 2011 to 2019, worked alongside Hugley throughout her tenure. Hugley was originally appointed as city manager in 2006 by former Mayor Bob Poydasheff and was unanimously confirmed by the City Council.
Anker, who was recently appointed to the council, has drawn criticism for his push to oust Hugley, prompting concerns from local leaders and community members.
More details are expected to emerge at Friday’s press conference.
