Fashion That Defines: Local Designer Returns to New York Fashion Week

Laketha Ashe, a Columbus-based fashion designer, is making waves in the fashion industry as she prepares to showcase her latest collection at New York Fashion Week for the second consecutive year.

Ashe, known for her unique and eye-catching styles at her boutique Just Myne, will present her new collection on the runway in February, bringing a fresh take on classic vintage style to one of fashion’s biggest stages.

"It’s a humbling experience," Ashe said. "I’m excited.  It's just like the first time, really; those same emotions that you feel, surreal moments, all of that."

One of the models accompanying Ashe is a local model Danielle Thomas, who will walk in the show wearing some of the designer’s signature pieces. For Thomas, this marks a major milestone in her career.

"I'm very excited and very much invested and involved with walking the runway," Thomas said. "Laketha’s designs are not just clothes—they tell a story, and I’m honored to be part of that. Her passion is just chef’s kiss"

Ashe first gained recognition in 2024 when she debuted her first collection at NYFW. Since then, her brand, Just Myne, has gained traction for its one-of-a-kind style, and unique flare with patterns.

NYFW, which runs from Feb. 6 to Feb. 11, is one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world, featuring top designers, emerging talent and industry insiders.

Following the show, Ashe hopes to continue growing her brand and helping others realize their fashion dreams. She will continue her journey to the top as she also gears up to head to Milan Fashion Week in March.
