David Britt has been appointed as the new Tax Commissioner of Muscogee County, marking a significant transition in leadership for the office.
With over two decades of experience serving in the Tax Commissioner’s Office, Britt brings a deep commitment to public service and a broad range of expertise to his new role.
“I am grateful to serve as Muscogee County’s next Tax Commissioner. I thank God for His guidance and wisdom. I am truly blessed to have this opportunity,” Britt said.
Over his 23-year tenure, Britt has built a reputation for his dedication to serving the public, leveraging his extensive educational background with advanced degrees in Communications, Business Administration, and Public Administration, alongside experience in real estate and mass communication.
Britt emphasized that while his credentials are notable, it is his passion for service and his ability to connect with people that he believes are his greatest assets. “I believe in leading by example, meeting people where they are, and working together to find solutions,” he said.
Britt succeeds current Tax Commissioner Lula L. Huff, whose leadership has been recognized for its dedication and impact. “Our current Tax Commissioner, Lula L. Huff, has laid an outstanding foundation. She has served, sacrificed, and worked tirelessly for the citizens of Muscogee County. The office is better because of her leadership,” Britt noted, highlighting his intent to build on her legacy.
Looking ahead, Britt outlined his vision for the office, including streamlining processes for employees and citizens, addressing challenges, and keeping the public well-informed. “I will continue the work to make processes more efficient for both our employees and citizens. I will assess our current challenges, focus on service, and keep our citizens informed. I am committed, dedicated, and ready to lead the Tax Commissioner’s Office into the future,” he said.
Britt’s appointment comes at a time when the Tax Commissioner’s Office continues to play a crucial role in serving the needs of Muscogee County’s residents. His leadership aims to build on established progress while fostering an environment of service, collaboration, and innovation.
