Arrest Made in Deadly Hit-and-Run Incident

COLUMBUS, GA — Columbus Police are seeking information on a suspect wanted for aggravated assault following a shooting incident that occurred on Sept. 24, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m. in the 500 block of 5th Avenue.
Officers arrived on the scene after receiving reports of the shooting, where the victim revealed that she had been involved in an argument at a nearby store. According to her account, a Black male subsequently followed her in a vehicle and opened fire.
The investigation has been taken over by the Violent Crimes Unit, which has identified the suspect as 37-year-old Marquale Brown. Warrants have been issued for his arrest on charges including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding Brown's whereabouts to contact 911 or reach out to Corporal K. Baldwin at 706-225-4337. Information can be provided anonymously.
