The Chattahoochee Valley Library System (CVLS) in Columbus, Ga., is providing free online tutoring services powered by Brainfuse (https://www.brainfuse.com/Home/about.asp) to students, offering vital academic support to the community.
The initiative aims to bridge educational gaps, especially for those who might not have access to paid tutoring services.
“We understand that many families are struggling to keep up with the demands of schoolwork, and we want to help,” said CVLS Community Engagement Coordinator Tiffany Wilson.
The program covers a wide range of subjects, including math, science, social studies and language arts. Brainfuse also assists students with standardized tests including the SAT, ACT, ASVAB and GED, as well as College Placement Test prep and the U.S. Citizenship Test.
Tutors are available students enrolled in kindergarten to high school. The library system has partnered with professional tutors and educators to ensure that students receive high-quality instruction tailored to their individual needs.
“We’ve seen a significant increase in demand for tutoring, particularly since the pandemic,” Wilson noted.
Since January 2023, the system has been utilized by more than 3,000 students in the area with over 90 percent positive feedback.
The library system is committed to making these resources as accessible as possible, with flexible hours and the option for students and parents to schedule sessions that fit their busy lives.
Brainfuse offers English, Spanish and French-speaking tutors across all subjects. In addition, it includes a translation feature that allows tutors and students to communicate in virtually any language.
Parents and students have expressed gratitude for the program, which has helped many students improve their grades and gain confidence in their academic abilities.
One parent shared, “This service has been a lifesaver for us. My child was struggling with math, and the library’s tutoring program made all the difference.”
The library system encourages all interested families to take advantage of this free service as well as other resources offered by CVLS.
Registration is simple, and sessions can be booked online or by visiting any Chattahoochee Valley Library branch.
“Our goal is to support the educational success of every student in our community,” Wilson emphasized.
The Chattahoochee Valley Library System’s tutoring program is just one of many ways the library is working to meet the needs of the Columbus community.
By offering these free resources, the library is helping to ensure that all students can succeed academically.
