The annual Black History Month Breakfast will be held at 7 a.m. Saturday, Feb.17, 2025, at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. This year’s event will bring together community members, leaders and special guests to honor the rich history and contributions of Black Americans.
Organized by the Black History Month Observance Committee, the breakfast will feature keynote speaker U.S. Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), as well as reflections on the theme of unity and equality. Attendees can look forward to a program filled with inspiring speeches, cultural performances and moments of reflection on Black history and its ongoing impact.
“The Black History Month Breakfast is an opportunity for the Columbus community to have a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich culture of African Americans here in the community around the world,” said committee member Oz Roberts.
The event serves as a cornerstone of Columbus’s local Black History Month celebrations, fostering unity and dialogue while highlighting achievements and addressing ongoing challenges.
Tickets for the breakfast are available for $75, and proceeds will benefit local organizations geared toward assisting and developing the African American community.
"The main purpose of our breakfast and the longevity of it has been our ability to kind of give back to the community," Roberts said. "We want to celebrate our rich history and culture with the breakfast, but we also want to give back to the community, and that's the big part of what we're trying to do."
The Columbus Convention and Trade Center is located at 801 Front Ave, Columbus, GA 31901. The program will begin promptly at 7 a.m.
Black History Month, observed every February, celebrates the history, culture and contributions of Black Americans and recognizes their influence on the United States and the world.
