Attorney Keyanna Marshall: A Journey to Justice

By Janell Williams

Attorney Keyanna Marshall has built a career rooted in advocacy, resilience and a deep commitment to justice. From her early years to her current role as a prominent lawyer in Columbus, Attorney Keyanna Marshall has made a name for herself in the Columbus legal community.

She recently took a bold step in launching her own law firm, The Marshall Law Firm. Her journey to this milestone reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and a passion for justice.

Originally wanting to be an educator, Marshall changed her academic journey after meeting multiple female lawyers in the U.S. Navy. She pursued her undergraduate degree at Columbus State University, where she studied political science before attending Faulkner University to earn her Juris Doctor.

“I joined the military and met so many black female lawyers when I went in. They all told me that if I truly wanted to make a difference for our community, practicing law was the path to take,” Marshall said.

Marshall began her legal career at Columbus State University and graduated from law school at Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2021.

“My journey into the legal field began when I took Constitution Law my senior year at Columbus State University. As a graduate of Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, I'm excited to bring my knowledge and skills to help clients navigate their legal challenges,” she said.

After passing the bar, Marshall began her legal career at the Muscogee County District Attorney’s office where she interned for former District Attorney Sheneka Terry.

She then went on to become a prosecutor for Harris County. Her early cases provided her with hands-on experience in the courtroom and strengthened her reputation as a dedicated advocate for her clients.

Now a respected attorney in Columbus, Marshall specializes in criminal and juvenile law.

Marshall’s journey has not been without challenges. Facing obstacles such as self doubt and lack of representation, she persevered through hard work and unwavering dedication. Her success serves as an inspiration for aspiring lawyers, particularly women and people of color entering the legal profession.

Beyond the courtroom, Marshall is deeply involved in community initiatives, including working with veterans and senior citizens.

“I am committed to giving back to the community. I volunteer with local United States Reserve Center where I provide service for underserved communities, including veterans, elderly and children,” said Marshall.

She believes in using her legal knowledge to empower and educate.

As she continues to grow in her practice, Marshall remains focused on expanding her impact within the legal field and beyond. Whether advocating for clients, mentoring young professionals, or pushing for legal reforms, she is committed to making a difference.

“My goal is to provide compassionate and effective legal solutions tailored to each client’s unique situation with integrity,” she said.

Attorney Keyanna Marshall’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and purpose. Through her work, she has not only built a thriving legal career but also become a role model for those who aspire to create change in their communities.
