Arrest Made in Canaan Drive Shooting Investigation Update

On Nov. 29, 2024, the second victim in the Canaan Drive shooting, Daijohn Ross, 18, succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased at 8:19 p.m.

According to Columbus Police Skylar Jones, 16, has been developed as a suspect in the case.

On Jan. 2, 2025, Jones was arrested on unrelated charges in Fairburn, Ga. He was subsequently extradited to Columbus and detained at the Regional Youth Detention Center.

On Jan. 7, 2025, arrest warrants were obtained and served for Jones in connection with the shooting incident. He is facing multiple charges, including:

• Murder (Malice) – Senate Bill 440
• Murder (Felony) – Senate Bill 440
• Armed Robbery - Senate Bill 440
• Aggravated Assault x3
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
• Unlawful Possession of Firearms or Weapons
• Possession of Pistol/Revolver Under Age 18 Years

Jones is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court at 8 a.m. on Jan. 9, 2025.
