Allen Levi to Present Theo of Golden at Columbus Public Library

Staff Report

Acclaimed Southern storyteller and musician Allen Levi will present his novel Theo of Golden at the Columbus Public Library on at 6:30 p.m. March 13. The event, held in the W.C. Bradley Reading Room on the library’s second floor, is free and open to the public with no reservations required.

Levi, a former attorney who transitioned to a career in music and storytelling, has released more than 20 albums and performed extensively throughout the region. His debut novel, Theo of Golden, follows a mysterious man who arrives in a Southern town and embarks on a quiet campaign of anonymous generosity. The fictional setting of Golden, Georgia, offers a familiar backdrop for local readers, drawing inspiration from the culture and landmarks of Columbus. Levi is currently working on a sequel, Ellen of Golden.

During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to hear Levi discuss his writing process, the themes behind Theo of Golden, and his creative journey. Copies of the novel will be available for purchase, and Levi will sign books before and after the presentation.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate local talent, storytelling and the unique spirit of Columbus,” said Tiffany Wilson, community engagement coordinator at Chattahoochee Valley Libraries. “Allen Levi’s work captures the heart of our region, and we’re thrilled to host him as part of the NEA Big Read Columbus.”

The presentation is part of the NEA Big Read Columbus initiative, celebrating Where We Live. NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. Local support for Where We Live is provided by Chattahoochee Valley Libraries, the Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians at Columbus State University, and the Muscogee County Library Foundation.
